Cairns Relay for Life Massage Volunteer

Relay for LifeCairns Relay for Life is an annual, overnight event held to celebrate cancer survivors, to remember those who lost their battle to cancer and to fight back against the disease by raising much needed funds.  Thousands of people participate in Relay events across Australia each year with funds going to the Cancer Council to aid in research, prevention and support for cancer suffers.

I lost my Grandmother who fought a brave battle with cancer and so I wanted to help out by giving back to the community. One of my long term goals is to study oncology massage and to be able to provide specialty services for clients with cancer.

Cairns Relay for Life 2014 theme was “HOPE” and what a wonderful turnout with so much hope, love and laughter and a few tears.  It was a privilege to volunteer my time to help out such a worthy cause. Anyone can participate, there are no restrictions whether as a team member, volunteer or simply donating much needed funds.

It seemed the “Onesie” outfits were the flavour this year with a variety of animal costumes making their way around the track.  They certainly looked very comfortable.  I even managed to massage an antenna or two!

Relay for Life Massage – Immerse in Massage volunteered a seated Cairns massage to participants of Cairns Relay for Life – 14th June 2014.  What a privilege to contribute to the success of yet another Cairns Relay for Life event.
